2023 Annual NALS Maintenance Conference: A Recap of Key Topics and Award Winners

Las Vegas, NV – The 2023 NALS Maintenance Conference brought together Maintenance Supervisors from different NALS properties across the country to learn, network, and celebrate their achievements. The week-long event featured a variety of training sessions on a variety of topics led by experienced professionals, including some of the top individuals within NALS. By attending this conference, Maintenance Supervisors are even better equipped to provide excellent service and enhance the living experience for all NALS residents. Below is a recap of the training areas and presenters that stood out during the conference.

Miguel Garcia, Regional Maintenance Manager of the Northwest region, led a session detailing property inspections, staircase inspections, clog hogs, and anode rods, and emphasized the significance of preventative maintenance to avoid expensive repairs and enhance the longevity of NALS communities. His training provided Maintenance Supervisors with best practices for conducting these maintenance checks and how to prioritize repairs based on severity.

Georgia’s Regional Maintenance Manager, Luke Roberts, hosted an informative training on mold and major leak procedures. Maintenance Supervisors left the session with a step-by-step guide on how to identify and address mold and leak issues.

The New Mexico and Dallas Regional Maintenance Manager, Ben Terry, focused on two essential aspects of maintenance at NALS properties: salt pools and HVAC. His training highlighted the importance of proper maintenance and regular checks for salt pools and HVAC systems, and how to troubleshoot common issues.

The importance of timely and accurate work order procedures for optimal maintenance operations was presented by Yofree Ruiz, Regional Maintenance Manager of Arizona. Yofree offered valuable tips on how to create, assign, and complete work orders, in addition to how to track progress for effective follow-ups.

Finally, Mark Ismond, NALS Director of Maintenance, covered the importance of organization habits, hiring best practices and how to streamline this process, and generating accurate month-end maintenance reports for performance evaluation.
