You’ll find that the city offers a wide selection of options; 150 miles of bike lanes, extensive bus systems, express shuttles, and light rail services. According to the Phoenix Economic Development Committee, transportation and economic development go hand in hand. Phoenix public transportation is hot! In 2014, 14 million people rode the light rail, contributing to 7 billion dollars in economic development*. The council calls the light rail an “economic generator” and its plans for expansion have already been approved and can be seen here. Local bus service, Bus Rapid, had 1,000,000 boarders in 2014. Bus Rapid operates extended hours on weekdays, weekends, and holidays. There are 5 circulators with 160,000 average daily riders for bus and rail.
